What is Content Marketing?
Content marketing is about creating and distributing valuable, relevant and consistent content to attract and acquire a clearly defined audience. Today, effective web marketing is all about creating high quality content and sharing this across the web, via blogs, social media, video, infographics, etc.
Why is Creating Content so important?
The web has transformed buying behaviour. In the past, if a potential client wanted information on your services, he would call your office and engage you or one of your sales team to get the lowdown on your offering.
Today, his first port of call is undoubtedly the internet. He’ll search on Google, check out your website and expect to sign up to articles, updates or social media feeds to find out more. He is checking to see who he could best trust to solve his business problem. Valuable content may not be easy but it is an essential tool if you are going to grow and sustain a successful business in today’s web-driven world.
How do I create valuable content?
Writing for the web is no different from writing for print except for the fact that your online readers are constantly distracted and most won’t read your content word by word.
People on the web have very short attention spans – they’ll read the headline of your story and probably the first few lines and then zoom off. It takes effort, time and lot of thinking to produce good and useful content, but the more content you create, not only will Google love you for it, you also have something interesting to share across your various social media activities and link back to your website.
